This week I looked through last summer’s photo album while plotting to make a cool scrapbook that I didn’t get around to last year. But looking back made me sad that we’re not having the summer we did then. This one has been so much harder. I will admit it wasn’t easy last year, but this year takes the cake. Everyone is in a funk in my house. We are even struggling to live up to our own “no fun” slogan.
Yet, as often happens, just when I feel the abyss drawing near, a slight course change is upon us. A tiny lift in the mood. So I am renewed in my hope for August. Today is its own new beginning. Here’s to an August reset. Maybe I’ll kick it off with a “no fun in summer” cake.
